The purpose of the Marion Business Association (MBA) is to assist new and existing businesses for them to be success businesses. The MBA is available to address any issue a small business may have. A data base of current available commercial properties is maintained in the office.

Since July 1, 2005, we offer these services city-wide with primary focus to the downtown area. As the City of Marion Economic Development office, the MBA does active assistance of new businesses into the city. The MBA created a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the Marion Historic Foundation, to take advantage of grant writing opportunities. 

MBA board members best serve by being aware of services available in for small businesses and be a resource referral to the best service for the need. 

Outreach is a priority for MBA. The organization believes that maintaining a personal contact with new and existing businesses to identify problems, address concerns and assist with a personal touch that many businesses may lack. It is very easy for business owners to feel isolated, overwhelmed and alone especially in the first year of business. Mores effort is made to network new businesses with older, more established businesses. 

The secondary purpose of the MBA is to create events that showcase the best of our community. Friday night concerts, parades, festivals and other community events promote a sense of community and reinforce the small town atmosphere of Marion. Family and kid friendly activities are the priority of Marion Business Association events.

The mission of the Marion Business Association is to broaden the economic base of the community while preserving the historic character of the downtown and promoting Marion as a desirable place to visit, work, shop, play and live. 

 Vision Statement: 

Marion will continue its role as the heart of the community. It will offer a unique experience with inviting outdoor cafes, galleries and boutiques framed by distinctive historic architecture. Marion will be a walkable downtown with adjoining greenways. It will be enhanced by the civic, cultural, and economic diversity of its citizens. Marion will be a thriving center for business and entertainment.
